2010 in Review - Looking Foward to 2011

As 2010 comes to a close, it is a perfect time to reflect upon RMGDRI’s past year’s performance and success!

Because of our fabulous supporters we…

Found 165 Danes loving forever homes
Raised over $50,000 from donations and fundraising events
Treated multiple heartworm cases and other medical issues
Brought several Great Danes with Wobblers into RMGDRI’s care
Continued to successfully support the Danes in our “Sponsor-A-Dane” program
Brought RMGDRI to the classroom educating school age children on responsible pet ownership

RMGDRI continues to grow and expand our presence supporting a 13-state region. Along with a stronger presence in more states, RMGDRI has also strengthened its volunteer force with the appointment of…

Lisa Kitchens, Event Coordinator
Erin Collins Rist, Fundraising Coordinator
Cameron Morton, Marketplace Director
Kathleen Morgan, Grant Writer
Bree Fransen, Dane Campaign Coordinator
Jordan Peel, PR Director
Tanya McMickle, Foster Recruitment Coordinator

RMGDRI has also gotten on the social media bandwagon with the assistance of Andrea Hartwig (Facebook), Heather King (Twitter), and Rachel Berry (RMGDRI Blog). RMGDRI’s Facebook fan page now has over 1,000 fans and growing and we also have a fan page dedicated solely to our “Sponsor A Dane” program.

Cristal Hubbard, Board Member & Foster Administrator, began regularly checking in with our foster families and reporting back to the Board of Directors. These regular updates provide open communication between the Board and our foster families.

In an effort to stay connected with our adoptive families, Lindsay Hess, our newest Board Member and Adoption Coordinator, enlisted the assistance of several volunteers implementing a detailed adoption follow-up program.

Meg Wittenmer, RMGDRI’s Vet Appointment Coordinator, moved across country to Wisconsin but continues her duties from afar. In 2011, with Meg’s assistance, RMGDRI will implement a heartworm preventative program for all foster dogs in our care.

As we look forward to the coming year, we are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.

In 2011, we will solidify the Rescue’s presence in our 13-state region. We will also be actively seeking a Community Outreach Director and TV Producer.

RMGDRI has expanded its social media presence into the Internet television arena. RMGDRI’s Internet television channel, Rescue Tails (powered by VetTV), is an avenue for promoting everything rescue including educational videos, foster dog videos, and RMGDRI. Look for Rescue Tails to premier in 2011.

We have established an event fundraising goal of $15,000 for 2011. This coming year will have our usual fundraisers starting with Comedy Night on January 20th and ending with Cocktails for Tails on Saturday, November 6, 2011 with various fun events sprinkled throughout the year. Watch for the barometer on the RMGDRI Home Page that will track our progress through 2011.

Speaking of RMGDRI’s web site, 2011 will mark the unveiling of a new look by the end of March. This new look will include an up-to-date theme that is easily navigated.

In closing, we want to thank each of you for your support of the Rescue this past year. 2010 was a banner year for RMGDRI and we are looking forward to an even greater 2011!

Laura, Jen, Brandy, Joy, Cristal, Lindsay, Meg, Lori R & Lori W
